Pendem Fort in Ambarawa City, Central Java Province
Ambarawa City is part of Semarang Regency and it becomes a nice vacation destination especially for those who are into history. It is because the region offers some good places to learn history and conduct photography! For instance, there is Pendem Fort located in Lodoyong Village. Another name is Willem I Fort and it has been there for more than a century! It is true people are interested in visiting the site due to the historical aspect, but there are other reasons. It is said the fort was once buried underground. It was actually a strategy in order to counter the enemies. Some locals said the fort was used to store supplies back then, though. Also, it was built during the reign of Colonel Hoorn! That means it has been there since 1834. It is a little bit surprising that it remains in a sturdy condition until now.
Photography becomes the next reason why many tourists are interested in visiting Pendem Fort. They can simply take selfies in front of the walls or doors of the fort. One thing, they must come during the bright day. The purpose is to get enough sunlight and avoid the creepy nuance of the site. It is surprising that some locals often come to the fort at night, though!

How to Get There
A trip to Pendem Fort may take approximately 58 minutes from Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang City. It is because the distance is 46.9 km. For a faster trip, though, tourists can take advantage of Semarang – Solo Highway and use only the best transportation service. Once arriving at Ambarawa City, they only need to head to Lodoyong Village where the fort is located.
