Simpang Lima Square in Semarang City, Central Java Province

When it comes to a vacation in Semarang City, many tourists may recall a famous place called Simpang Lima Square. Another name is Pancasila Park and it becomes the center of attraction of the city. Moreover, the location is in the downtown so everyone can reach the site easily. To be exact, it resides in Pleburan Village and belongs to South Semarang Sub-District. In terms of name, “Simpang” means intersection while “Lima” means five. As the name suggests, the square is located on such unique intersection. Not to mention it comes with many attractions including entertainment and culinary.

The Nuance
In terms of size, Simpang Lima Square has the total area of 50 x 15 meters per square. The nuance is peaceful in the morning, as visitors only want to conduct relaxation and sports at the time. However, the atmosphere becomes festive when the night comes. It is because more people come to the site to rent sparkling rides and eat delicious foods sold by local food vendors. The thing is the park is located on the roadside at the intersection, so everyone must be careful when crossing the street.

Exploring Simpang Lima Square
The first things come first. It is recommended to learn the history of Pancasila Square for those who visit the site. Even though the inauguration was in 1969, the construction began during the reign of the first president of Indonesia (Soekarno). At the time, he wanted to relocate the first city square (Kauman Park) to a new place due to the bad location. Another reason was the development of Johar Market, which was considered uncontrollable.

In a nutshell, Pancasila or Simpang Lima is not the first city square. However, it is considered better and more accommodating than the previous one. Here is the question, though. What can people do there? Well, it is as simple as hanging out with either friends or families. The fact is the local government often conducts a big event including the car-free day. The square is also used by local communities as a gathering place! Next, some people also take advantage of the square to enjoy photography. Some local artists often wear a unique costume and wander on the site, so they become a good object to capture later.

For more fun, tourists should come to Simpang Lima Square in the evening. Why is that? At the time, visitors can rent various sparkling bikes and get around the park with it. Despite the expensive rent fee, it offers a new and fun experience for everyone. As an alternative, tourists can wear an inline skate and get around the square in the morning. Jogging is a good option too, actually!
