Margoboyo Mountain in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province

Another good site is available in Wonogiri Regency to enjoy sightseeing and photography. The name is Margoboyo Mountain and it is located in Banasan Village at Manyaran Sub-District. Usually, new visitors are interested in visiting the mountain due to their friend’s reference. The only consideration is that tourists need to be diligent in gathering information regarding the route and directions from the locals. After all, beginners don’t have the experience and exact direction to reach the top of the mountain. As for tourist activities, the mountain is suitable for trekking, photography, and witnessing the local ritual in getting rid of naughty monkeys who live in that area.

The Nuance
Even though tourists can use a motorcycle to explore the mountain, they are likely to spend most of the time by trekking or walking. It is because they need to pass through several villages and conquer steep landscapes with the extreme tilt. According to the locals, actually, the best routes to reach the top of the mountain are through Banasan and Wonggo Village. Those are considered the easiest entry point for trekking! When it comes to the difficulty, many people consider it similar to that of Rinjani Mountain’s Senaru Route. Many big trees and branches may accompany everyone during trekking. Also, the atmosphere is a little bit damp and hot.

Exploring Margoboyo Mountain
The most common reason to come to Margoboyo Mountain is definitely to enjoy trekking. It is because tourists can get a new experience in exploring the nature and unique landscapes in that area. The adventure begins from either Banasan or Wonggo Village. Those are the most recommended spots to start trekking, after all. After walking for about 40 minutes, tourists may reach the pine forest! Not only they can see the wonderful panoramas of the forest, but they can also find a modest hut for resting before continuing the trip.

The only disappointing thing is that the pine forest is not as clean as tourists may expect. It is because irresponsible trekkers often drink and eat something in that location and leave the trash carelessly. In this case, no one is allowed to litter and makes the environment worse! After passing through the pine forest, tourists may reach the top of Margoboyo Mountain soon! The route is filled with weeds, though.

For the information, it takes approximately 1 hour to reach the top of Margoboyo Mountain by trekking. Once reaching the site, tourists may see a rocky landscape with a challenging tilt. Thus, everyone should walk carefully there. Here is the unique thing. They may find two secluded caves in that area! Not to mention they may meet hundreds of monkeys who live in the mountain!
