Pesawat Tengah Hutan in Jayapura City, Papua Province

For those visiting Jayapura City during holidays, they may find a unique vacation place called Pesawat Tengah Hutan. In terms of name, it means a plane that resides in the midst of a forest, actually. This plane wreck is located in Koya Timur Village at Muara Tami Sub-District and it belongs to Trigana Air. Due to the presence of this enormous object, the village has become more popular among tourists these days. Visitors usually take photos of it and learn about history. The most crowded time perhaps is on weekends or holidays. Visitors are both locals and outsiders!

The Nuance
The good news is everyone is able to enter the location freely. As for the nuance, it feels secluded and lonely. The plane looks old and abandoned, too. It is covered by mold and dust! Despite the fact, the plane emits a unique beauty. Not to mention the condition is sturdy enough and it is able to accommodate people who want to climb on it. One thing, everyone should walk for about 1 km in order to reach the location. That means they need to park the vehicle at the village first and walk to the site afterward.

Exploring Pesawat Tengah Hutan
Even though not many outsiders know about Pesawat Tengah Hutan, the popularity keeps growing these days. The local government even starts considering turning the plane into either a café or restaurant. According to a rumor, they would bring a shipwreck to that site too! So, what can tourists do there? Local kids and teenagers often come in the afternoon and play on the site. These kids would also climb the plane and stand either on the wings or the body of the plane. Have no worries. The plane is sturdy enough to accommodate these people.

The next common thing to do in Pesawat Tengah Hutan is photography. That means visitors would use either their digital camera or smartphone to take photos of the plane. They also take selfies in front of this majestic plane! One thing, no facilities are available on the site. This is why tourists should consider carrying snacks and drinks to the site. As long as they take care of the trash, they are allowed to eat foods there.

Another reason for visiting Pesawat Tengah Hutan is to learn the history. Perhaps all visitors are concerned about how the plane got to that area. Well, the local government brought fragments of the plane and installed it on the site. There is no machine, though. Hopefully, it turns into a better tourist facility in the near future. Even its presence has brought charm to the local village, no?
