Hamadi Beach in Jayapura City, Papua Province

Hamadi Beach becomes another great vacation destination, especially those who are visiting Jayapura City. This stunning beach is located in Tobati Village and resides in South Jayapura Sub-District. Well, perhaps some outsiders wonder about the beach’s uniqueness. Unlike regular beaches in Jayapura, this one offers more than beautiful sea nature. It is because visitors can also hear an interesting history regarding the beach either from the villagers or local guides. The beach also becomes locals’ favorite place to spend a comfy afternoon while waiting the evening. They hang out with friends while enjoying the nuance!

The Nuance
The nuance can be either merry or peaceful depending on the time of the visit. The size of the shoreline is considered long, which is around 1.5 km! As for the width, it is about 5 square acres. Here is the best thing. Hamadi Beach is located not quite far from the downtown, so everyone can reach the site without spending much time. The sea scenery is indeed attractive and the ambiance is relaxing. The local government even has built wall barriers in order to keep waves away. The shape is similar to a canal! What is more? The beach features several gazebos that face directly to the sea. Several trees also grow on the shoreline, providing shadiness to the site as well.

Exploring Hamadi Beach
Well, visitors don’t have to do anything in Hamadi Beach. They can simply sit on available gazebos and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere regardless of the time. Still, the best time to relax at the beach is either in the morning or afternoon. There are also some lodges, which are suitable for resting and spending the night. Have no worries. The rental fee is considered cheap. It becomes pricier during long holidays, though. Later, at night, tourists can also conduct a BBQ party at the available spot, which is provided by the management.

When it comes to uniqueness, Hamadi Beach has a special feature called Tebing Pemecah Ombak or the wave breakers. It is formed by coral rocks and creates a small canal, too. Plus, the canal becomes a perfect place for playing water and swimming! The deepest part is only 1 meter, so kids can enjoy swimming safely in it. As an alternative, tourists can simply enjoy photography while exploring the shoreline in the afternoon!

What is more? As mentioned earlier, Hamadi Beach is also known for its history. According to the locals, General MacArthur of the Allies and his armies dropped by in this area before attacking the Nippon. Years earlier, lots of fragments and items of war were scattered on the beach. Though, tourists won’t find anything these days.
