Sasnek Waterfall

The natural beauty of Papua can never described in words. Even if it were possible, it would never fully describe the natural beauty of Cendrawasih land. A 20-meter-high waterfall with clear water and natural atmosphere of tropical forests and unique animals that have never been seen, is guaranteed will make visitors feel at home in the heart of a tropical forest. This waterfall has about 20 meters height and 7 meters width, and the water flow not too heavy, you could even say the flow is like eternal rain. At the top of the waterfall there are green trees, so it is as if water comes out of the roots of the trees.

Under the waterfall there is a puddle of water similar to a pond that is not too deep, with brownish bottom. Refreshing water makes tourists always tempted to play water right under the waterfall.

Geographically, Sasnek Waterfall is located in the middle of tropical rain forest of Papua, which is still in the area of Sasnek Village, Sawiat District, South Sorong Regency, West Papua. From the center of Sorong City, the trip to Sasnek Village takes 2.5 hours by land using a four-wheeled vehicle. The journey to the village is also quite difficult, because not all the roads are paved smooth, there are times when you have to pass through red soil road. Conditions will be even more difficult during the rainy season, where unpaved roads will turn into mud.

Arriving at Sasnek Village, tourists still have to continue the journey through the wilderness as far as 2 km with trekking time of about 30 minutes. During trekking, tourists will pass through the hills and occasionally pass small rivers. While walking along the path in the tropical forest, visitors often encounter rare animals on the trunks and twigs and leaves of the trees.

But you will be satisfied when you approach the location with the sound of rushing water falling from 20 meters height. The beautiful will make you want to swimming in the clear water of the waterfall. Not only enjoying the clear water and the stunning beauty of the waterfall, visitors can also relax in traditional huts made by local residents at the waterfall tourist area.

There are also no stalls selling food at that location. Therefore, tourists are required to bring their own supplies if they want to visit the waterfall, especially drink water, because the terrain is quite difficult, the body will sweat and become dehydrated. It is recommended to visit Sasnek Waterfall in the morning, where the air still feels very cool and fresh typical of the mountains, and they also have plenty of time to enjoy the panorama around.
