Lutungan Island


Lutungan Island is can be reach by using a boar for almost 25 minutes from Toli-Toli. This island in located in the western side of Toli-toli and it has white sandy beach and sparkling water. The rich population of fishes and coral reef become the additional sightseeing along the island.

In matter of historical value, this Island keeps the ancient cemetery of Toli-Toli King named Syaefudin Bantilan. Hence, this island is concidered as a sacred island for local people. King Syaefudin rules this area from 1859 to 1867. He was a powerful king, and heredity of King Mohammad Yusuf Syaiful Muluk Muidjuddin or Malatuang.

In the past, far before this island named Lutungan, Toli-Toli people called this place as Tando Kanau or Enau Cape. This was happen because there were a lot of Enau trees around the island. Enau trees for Toli-toli people has philosophy value, because it is the main ingredient for making palm sugar and the tree is also functioned as a lightning rod. The fruit of Enau is popular by the name of Kolang kaling, and it can be consume for dessert.
