Nampu Beach in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province

Wonogiri Regency is not quite popular among foreigners, but it has gained lots of attention from local tourists and those who live nearby. One of the reasons is the presence of beautiful beaches like Nampu. This one is located in Gunturharjo Village and belongs to Paranggupito Sub-District. The beach is known for its stunning scenery, without a doubt! Still, many people also recognize it as a nice place to spend a family recreation during holidays when coming to Indonesia. The best thing is the beach features a majestic fountain where tourists can play water and take a bath in it.

The Nuance
As mentioned earlier, one thing that makes Nampu Beach different is the presence of a fountain (which is located about 15 km from the shoreline). Thus, tourists need to walk for a while in order to get to the location. The next important feature in Nampu Beach is definitely the white shoreline with its short size. It is even surrounded by two big green cliffs that make the site shady and comfortable. When it comes to the sea, the waves are big and the current is strong. This explains why visitors are not allowed to swim in the sea despite their sophisticated experience.

Exploring Nampu Beach
Just because Nampu Beach has a short shoreline, doesn’t mean it is bad for beach walking. Instead, tourists won’t get tired easily when exploring the site! Aside from beach walking, tourists can do many things including culinary! They should visit the available food stands and buy some foods and drinks there. The most famous menu is called “Degan” or fresh coconut drinks. So, everyone should not miss to buy it later.

According to the locals, the best time to visit Nampu Beach is in the afternoon. Not only the sea has the low tide, but it also comes with a more interesting nuance. At the time, the locals gather in the beach to hunt small sea creatures like octopuses, sea cucumbers, fishes, etc. They may cook those animals later as a dinner, in fact. In this case, tourists can learn the technique used by those people in capturing the animals. When it comes to octopuses, it only requires a small stick called sundlep. The locals use it to draw out octopuses from corals, after all.

The next allure in Nampu Beach is none other than the white shoreline. It looks stunning especially at noon due to the sun ray. Plus, the beach is surrounded by two big cliffs which make it more secluded and serene. If the wind is big enough (usually in the afternoon), visitors can even fly kites on the beach!
