Toraja People Toraja people are the indigenous people who live in highland of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The word Toraja comes from the Bugis language’s to riaja, meaning “people of the uplands” Befor the 20th Cntury, the Torajan was live in autonomous villages, where they practiced animism believe and was being untouched by outside world. During the early 1900s, a Dutch missionaries worked to convert Torajan highlander to Christianity.
