Tebing Taraujung in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province

Due to the presence of lots of beaches, Majene Regency has become more popular among those who love adventure these days. One of the most recommended beaches to visit is located in Pamboang Sub-District, which is called Tebing Taraujung Beach. Well, the exact location is in Lalampanua Village. As for the name, it includes “Tebing” which means cliffs! Unlike regular beaches with their sandy shoreline, this one features chunks of coral reefs and cliffs instead. Thus, tourists consider it a better place to conduct photography and exploration. Those cliffs are climbable, after all.

The Nuance
As mentioned before, visitors won’t find a sandy shoreline in Tebing Taraujung Beach. Instead, they may see big coral reefs and climbs, which are climbable. Moreover, there is a small lagoon, which is located in the midst of the cliffs. Many beautiful fishes also live in it, especially during the high tide. Despite the uniqueness, the beach is considered quiet and the number of visitors is low. Aside from the poor accessibility, the locals rarely visit the beach due to some reasons. One of them is related to a local belief! It is said that the area is “angker” or mystical.

Exploring Tebing Taraujung Beach
Taraujung Beach becomes a nice alternative to enjoy relaxation and peaceful vacation when traveling in Indonesia. It is because the nuance feels peaceful there. Aside from that, the views are also astonishing. Once arriving at the entrance, tourists may see lush coconut trees that grow neatly. The presence of these trees also provides some shady spots to relax. Some tourists even carry foods and a mat to enjoy eating together with families under those trees.

Among various allures in Taraujung Beach, the best one is definitely the cliffs. Tourists can easily climb these and conduct photography up there. Still, the surface is rocky and sharp, so everyone should wear proper footwear during the exploration. Another common thing to do on the cliffs is none other than fishing! Some spots are perfect enough to catch some fishes in the sea, in fact. Plus, a small lagoon is formed during the high tide. Some fishes also live in it!

What is next? According to villagers, an ancient tomb resides in that area. This explains why the atmosphere becomes mystical sometimes. Not to mention some locals are often seen visiting the site for pilgrimage or “ziarah”. For more experience, in this case, tourists must visit a nearby mangrove park and conduct photography in that area! There is no entrance fee at all, so don’t worry.
