Walakiri Beach in East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province

When people hear about East Nusa Tenggara Province, they may think about beautiful beaches. This includes Walakiri Beach of East Sumba Regency, for sure. The location is in Watumbaka Village and it belongs to Pandawai Sub-District. This Indonesia’s beach is famous for its amusing sunset and serene nuance. This explains why the locals regularly come to the site in order to spend a good time in the afternoon. They also want to enjoy other activities including photography, beach walking, and relaxation. Another allure of the beach is that it resides near to the local settlement so villagers can easily get to the beach without any issues.

The Nuance
Being one of the most beautiful beaches in East Sumba Regency, Walakiri is indeed worth a visit when you are in Indonesia. The waves are calm and the shoreline features stunning white sand. Plus, it has a sloping characteristic which is suitable for water sports. Perhaps the most distinct characteristic is the presence of mangroves that grow on the shore. These plants make the beach more beautiful and unique, which is perfect for photography. Moreover, the silhouette of those mangroves looks hypnotizing when the sunset appears!

Exploring Walakiri Beach
One of the significant factors that make Walakiri Beach famous is a movie entitled “Pendekar Tongkat Mas”. The movie used that beach as one of its backgrounds, after all. The next allure is none other than its beauty. It is because the beach has amazing features as mentioned above. First, it is the white sand where tourists can walk on it comfortably without any footwear. The next stunning feature is the presence of mangroves that scatter in the shore. They look amazing during sunset, so tourists must not miss the chance to take pictures of these objects at the time.

Now let’s talk again about the sand of Walakiri Beach. The fact is that it consists of two different textures. The first one is regular sand with its exotic color. Another one looks like a mixture of cement (formed due to the collision with the seawater). The unique part is that tourists can see clearly the borderline that separates those two. Such uniqueness becomes another object of photography, without a doubt.

What is more? It is rare to see people swimming in Walakiri Beach. On the other hand, the site becomes more crowded in the afternoon or during sunset. The combination of exotic orange sky and soothing atmosphere of the sea may comfort everyone, after all. Still, that doesn’t mean people visit the beach only in the afternoon. Even visiting the beach at noon is recommended to enjoy the relaxing nuance of the site, especially due to the presence of shady coconut trees growing near to the shoreline.
