Puru Kambera Savanna in East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province

Not all people know the fact that East Nusa Tenggara Province also has a vast savanna called Puru Kambera. In terms of region, it belongs to East Sumba Regency. To be exact, the location is in Mondu Village and it belongs to Kanatang Sub-District. The basic function of this site is indeed to accommodate wild animals for living properly in nature. As for tourists, the savanna becomes another interesting place for them to visit while spending a vacation in NTT Province. That means they can watch those animals directly and explore the site to their heart’s content. What a new experience!

The Nuance
Perhaps tourists may look for various exotic animals when visiting Puru Kambera Savanna. However, they would only find the most significant creature there which is Sumba’s horses! These animals often wander in the open field for grassing. Their color varies and they look quite healthy as well. Aside from grasses, the site also becomes the home of several big trees. The panorama even looks more beautiful during the hot season, as the grasses turn yellow. Somehow, it looks similar to that of Africa’s savanna. One thing, the weather can be quite hot so tourists should wear a cap and bring enough water bottled during exploration.

Exploring Puru Kambera Savanna
Being the habitat of wild horses, Puru Kambera Savanna indeed becomes everyone’s favorite place to spend a holiday. That means tourists are able to witness those exotic horses directly or even take pictures of them freely. The only consideration is related to the best time to visit the location. According to the locals, it is better to come during the hot season than rainy season. Why is that? The prime reason is that the horses are often seen at the time, as they eat grasses only during the hot season.

Even though tourists have the chance to watch wild horses in Puru Kambera Savanna, it is likely they won’t be able to interact with them. Even getting close to these animals seems impossible, as they may avoid strangers or human. What tourists can do is either to watch or take pictures of the horses from afar. What about feeding? Well, it seems not possible as well.

After spending some good time in Puru Kambera Savanna, tourists may continue their adventure by visiting a nearby beautiful beach. The white sand and unspoiled environment of the beach helps them to relax for sure. For the information, the beach shares a similar name to the savanna itself! So, do not forget to visit it later!
