Cirebon

Cirebon is a city and one of regencies in West Java province. Cirebon is the second largest independent city after the capital of West Java, Bandung. Cirebon is also the fourth largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang.

Cirebon is lies in coast of Java Sea, or Pantura (north coast). The coast route of Jakarta-Cirebon-Semarang is the densest point in Indonesia.

Because the location is very strategic, which is at the junction between Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang, made the city of Cirebon is perfect and can be a potential land for an investment in all areas such as hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and education.

Being supported by good economic activity and integrated, the City of Cirebon grew into a metropolitan city in West Java after the three metropolitan BoDeBek (Bogor, Depok, Bekasi), which is also the hinterland for the capital city of Jakarta and Bandung Metropolitan Area.

Cirebon is the center of business, industry and services in north and eastern area of West Java. Lots of small, medium and large scale industries invested in this city. Moreover, Cirebon city is the center of the tobacco industry’s British-American Tobacco (BAT), one of the leading manufacturer of cigarettes in the world.

In 13th century Cirebon City was marked by its traditional life and in the year 1479 it was grown quickly into the center and the Kingdom of the spread of Islam, especially in West Java. After the Dutch colonized, they built a highway network of railway land and thus affecting the development of industry and trade.

Cirebon is one of the most high populated districts in West Java. The inhabitant of Cirebon on the north side are generally use the Javanese language with Cirebon dialectas in everyday speaking. Cirebon dialect is quite different from the standard of Java language, which is usually being spoken on the east coast of West Java. While the inhabitant in the south are already affected by the Sundanese culture.

Cirebon has four royal palaces in the city at the same place, whichis Kraton Kasepuhan, Kraton Kanoman, Kraton Kacirebonan and Kraton Keprabon. Those palaces have mix of architectural elements of Islamic culture, Chinese, and Dutch.

The Palace is always facing north and there is a mosque nearby. Each palace has a square as a gathering place, markets and the tiger statue in the park or at front yard as a symbol of the King Siliwangi, which was the establish of the central figures of Cirebon.

Another characteristic from Cirebon is the original porcelain plates for decorating walls from China. Some plates are also came from the European during the time when Cirebon became the port of trading in Java island.

As a tourism destination in West Java as like Bandung, Tasikmalaya, Bogor, or the other cities in West Java.
