Samas Beach in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region

One of the best southern beaches in Bantul Regency is called Samas. The location is in Srigading Village and this beautiful beach belongs to Sanden Sub-District. It resides in the west part of Parangtritis Beach and it is close enough to a local settlement. Even tourists are able to enjoy the trip along the way to the beach! As for tourist activities, visitors usually enjoy beach walking, photography, and relaxation. Swimming is not recommended, though, due to the dangerous fierce waves of the south sea. Also, the beach often becomes a place to conduct local rituals and art performances!

The Nuance
Along the way to Samas Beach, tourists may see beautiful local farms and numerous types of trees, especially coconuts on the roadside. This comfy trip won’t be tiring at all due to such beautiful panorama. The beauty gets better once arriving on the site, in fact. Samas indeed has big waves and strong wind. Some small freshwater lakes and river deltas can be seen there, as well. Next, the beach features a white sandy shoreline which is suitable for beach walking. There is even a majestic Patehan Lighthouse in that area! As for the facilities, Samas offers toilets, eateries, lifeguards, etc. Located in the back of the shoreline, some local farms and rural houses reside beautifully, too.

Exploring Samas Beach
These days, Samas Beach has become more popular, especially among local teenagers. The beautiful scenery and exotic white sandy shoreline are some of the allures in that area. The only disappointment is that tourists are not allowed to swim or get in the water, due to big waves. As an alternative, they can do other things like family recreation and relaxation. At special moments, tourists have the opportunity to see many sea turtles that come ashore for laying eggs.

As for the best feature in Samas Beach, it is perhaps Patehan Lighthouse. The location is not quite far from the shoreline, so everyone is able to reach the location easily. Aside from taking photos of this interesting building, visitors are allowed to climb and reach the top of the lighthouse. The purpose is indeed to enjoy sightseeing and photography from above. The wind is quite strong, though, so tourists must wear comfy clothes later.

What is more? In the north part of Samas Beach, tourists would find a beautiful sunflower garden. This spot becomes a nice area for photography indeed. However, tourists must come only during the blooming season for the best landscape. The next best spot is none other than the locals’ fish and shrimp captivities, so tourists should drop by before going home. Well, another allure is the presence of local rituals like Sedekah Laut, Maheso Suro, and Kirab Tumuruning.
