Puttada Waterfall in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province

It is true that Majene Regency is known for its exotic beaches. Still, the region also has other interesting natural allures including waterfalls! One of them is located in Sendana Sub-District, which is called Puttada Waterfall. As the name suggests, this waterfall is located in Puttada Village. Even though the popularity is poor, beauty would never fail to astonish visitors. The location is on highland and it is surrounded by a lush environment, though. That means tourists need to conduct short trekking in order to reach the location. Aside from the beauty, the waterfall also offers a challenging landscape for exploration! It is suitable for those who love adventure and trekking, for sure.

The Nuance
As mentioned before, Puttada Waterfall is located on a highland. Tourists even need to pass through a shady forest in order to reach the location. Once arriving on the site, they may see a serene waterfall, having a height of about 5 meters. It also features big rocks and stones on both sides. When it comes to water discharge, it is considered weak. Both the appearance and water discharge are similar to Lembang Waterfall in Limbua Village, somehow. Have no worries. It also features a natural pond for bathing and swimming.

Exploring Puttada Waterfall
The location is in Puttada Village. Usually, tourists would drop by in the village first for resting or hear history regarding the Sendana Kingdom. The good thing is that the village is quite accessible. After parking the vehicle at the village, tourists can directly walk to the waterfall. This short trekking would take about 20 minutes! It would pass through hills and shady trees, as well. Thus, everyone must carry bottled water and other supplies in order to avoid tiredness.

In terms of popularity, Puttada Waterfall isn’t as good as others. However, both nuance and beauty are excellent. After enjoying exploration and trekking, tourists can use their camera and start collecting great photos there. One thing, they must walk carefully due to a slippery and rocky landscape. What about the objects for photography? The waterfall itself is good enough to be the background for photography. Aside from that, other beautiful objects are available like rocky cliffs and shady trees. The ambiance is peaceful, though, so tourists won’t find many people on the site.

Another recommended thing to do in Puttada Waterfall is to enjoy bathing in the natural pond. The depth is shallow and the water is fresh, so everyone would be able to enjoy the activity safely. On regular times, the water feels quite refreshing. However, it becomes more rejuvenating in the morning (which is considered the best time to get in the water). Later, before going back to the village, tourists must approach a nearby small river for more photos! In that area, they can also play water and take another bath, as well.

How to Get There
For those coming from Jakarta City, they can simply take an airplane at Soekarno – Hatta International Airport and head to Mamuju Regency first. Usually, a flight to Tampa Padang Airport would take around 4 hours and 45 minutes. It can even be faster during good weather, though. Once arriving at Mamuju, tourists must take a local transportation service and head to Majene Regency. The best route to take is Poros Majene – Mamuju Street and the distance is 85.1 km. This trip would take around 2 hours and 18 minutes, therefore.

After reaching Majene Regency, the next destination is indeed Puttada Waterfall, which is located in Sendana Sub-District. The distance between downtown and the waterfall is 72.6 km, so this trip may take around 2 hours and 4 minutes. As for the best route, tourists can take the same road as before.
