7 Days Southern Baliem
DAY 01: (L.D)
On Arrival in Jayapura by Lion air or Garuda, same day flight to Wamena, and same day treks. TREK through Baliem Valley (Based on following itinerary) Arrival in Wamena – Kurima in the same day (L.D).(Approx. 04 hours treks per day) We arrange for the travel permit known as “Surat Jalan’, buy the return ticket at once and then continue the trip to Sogogmo at 12:30 am or 13.00 pm. Upon arrival at Sogogmo public taxi terminal, then we start walk to Kurima district and registration in two military bases. A short briefing there for trekking. After lunch in in Kurima, walking up to Ugem village. The scenery and local people are welcome you. They are really friendly, smile and say”Wah” Wah” which means (welcome). We are following through suspension bridge call “Jembatan Kurima” 2 hours walk up to Ugem village- (l. d) end day 1.
DAY 02: Ugem – Syokosimo (B.L.D)
After breakfast, you walk down to Ugem villages close to the place you overnight stay. Here you have a chance to meet the big chief, you also allowed to visit the secret hut, but you will never enter in, just stand outside and take a photo out of it. I don’t know why, but it is! You are going to pass the sweet potatoes gardens, fresh beans, Taro, carrot plants and many more. We will hike for approximately 4-5 hours through the beautiful countryside and heart break panoramic. Passing wild forest and scenery is spectacular. Prepared lunch in boxes will be served en-route to the village; then dinner and overnight at in the Syokosimo or known as “the siep and kosay end day 2.
Note: cross wild wooden bridge, waterfall, lovely scenery, and local huts, welcoming people!
DAY 03: Syokosimo village – Wuserem village (B.L.D)
Here a bit muddy and up & down hills, so you need trekking shoes and trekking experience is needed, jungle treks, slippery, ooops, but you are not alone, you are with us! End day 3.
DAY 04, Wuserem village-Kilise village-Wamena-Jiwika-Obia village (b.l.d)
Today only a short trekking, 3 hours maximum. A bit slippery on treks, but nice scenery along the treks. end day 4.
Day 5
Experience Dani life style, go to the gardens with dani ladies, cultivation sweet potatoes, how to make garden, cooking traditional way of cooking in the dash, on fire place, steaming cooking, etc,
At the afternoon, back to the hut (made for tourist. There is a spring running spring close to the huts, nice compounds, feel like Dani tribal people, New guinea, eating with them, share cigarette, photo, lovely and nice people, not touristic. Called “Obia & Sumpaima village) (B.L.D)
DAY 06
Today we visit the Sumpaima village, visit the mummy, and Mr., Yali, a big chief called “Mr. Yali with his 22 wives, and his big compounds, in the afternoon, back to to Wamena town. Pilamo Hotel-Dinner, sleep.
Day 7
after breakfast proceeds to the Wamena airport, check in. èFly from Wamena to DJJ-Jayapur (on day 4) end day 7.”Continue to Raja ampat for diving or snorkeling!
