Amoi Village in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province

Many tourist allures are available in Biak Numfor Regency. Aside from historical sites, beaches, and small islands, the region is also known for its traditional villages. Thus, tourists can enjoy exploration while getting close to villagers. One of the best destinations, in this case, is Amoi Village. The location is in Warsa Sub-District and tourists can get there easily by local transportation service. Despite the simplicity, the village looks exotic and attractive! Tourists can also visit some beautiful spots like beaches in that area. Not to mention they have the chance to approach villagers and learn about their cultures.

The Nuance
When it comes to nuance, Amoi Village offers a peaceful ambiance. It is because the locals live in a traditional way and haven’t affected by modernization yet (especially electronics and vehicles). As for features, the village consists of both bushy and swampy landscape. The location is near to the sea, so visitors can get to beaches easily later. Some huts and traditional houses can also be found in the coastal area, located near to the local settlement. As for villagers, they retain their cultures well. Despite the fact, most of them wear modern clothes daily. They only wear traditional clothes during special ceremonies.

Exploring Amoi Village
The question is what tourists can do once they arrive at Amoi Village. Most outsiders are interested to visit the village for its nature. They want to explore the settlement and find some good spots to spend a vacation. The most recommended spot is located near to the shoreline, actually. Visitors can relax at huts and watch sea scenery there. Somehow, they can join the locals to fish in the sea! Even villagers would lend them a fishing rod. What a friendly manner!

The next thing to do in Amoi Village is to approach villagers and watch their traditional life. This would be a great experience for those who love culture, without a doubt. Visitors can even learn the local language and watch traditional ceremonies. However, they need to come at the right time to enjoy the performances. For examples, there are Ararem, Wor, and Apen Bayeren. Somehow, tourists need a local guide to explain the history and meaning of these traditions.

Another allure in Amoi Village is the presence of aloes plantation. The village has at least about 2 hectares of a plantation where aloes grow abundantly. Thus, tourists can enjoy ecotourism when visiting Amoi later. One thing, this commodity is quite expensive and valuable! No wonder, people need to spend lots of money to buy some.
