Situbondo


Situbondo is lies along the north coast of Java Island and it is kinda green regency with chilling weather because it surrounded by tea plantation, tobacco and the famous Baluran protected forest.

Situbondo is divided into 17 sub-districts and it has direct border with Madura Strait in north, Bali Strait in east, Probolinggo in west and Bondowoso in south. Situbondo is settled in the middle of Java – Bali route and located in the busy line between Anyer – Panarukan.

The most inhabitants that live in Situbondo are Javanese and Madurese. Most of them are working as farmers and others that live near to Madura Strait and Bali Strait are in fisheries. Instead of plantation and fishery, Situbondo is also has big potention in tourism, because of the location that settled directly along the shore line and the protected forest is also become interesting destination for tourists.

Baluran National Park

Baluran national park is a forest preservation area that extends about 25.000 ha on the north coast of East Java. It located in Sumberwaru village, Banyuwangi district, Situbondo, precisely on the east border of Java Island. The visitors that come to Baluran national park will experience the exotic panorama of Savannah and mount Baluran, which is inactive volcano and inhabited by exotic animals like wild pigs, deer, peacocks, wild chicken, some species of monkeys and also bulls as the protected animals in the area. Moreover, you can enjoy the amazing scenery of the forest and do the safari activities in the wild life and feel the magic of the forest. This park is so unique because 15 km from the main entrance, you can find a beautiful white beach called Bama Beach, here is the habitat of coral reef, fish and mangrove.

Bama Beach

Bama beach is located in the east of Baluran National Park, Situbondo regency. You can see the original beach and the fantastic panorama in here. One of special moment here is that you can see monkey with the long tail (Macaca fascicularis) doing fishing crabs with their long tail. Bama beach is a very secluded beach with its white sands, very clean and a beautiful coral reef garden. The Mangrove along 6 kms along the beach protects the area from "unwanted" rubbish from the river especially during the interchange between dry to rainy season.

Ijen Crater

The Ijen volcano is a group Stratovolcanoes that located in three area of regencies, which is situbondo, Bondowoso and banyuwangi, East Java. This volcanic area become the most incredible and surreal volcanic area in East Java. In this volcanic mountain, there is also the sulfur mining, regarding that the mountain is still active and produce the nature sulfur. In here, we can see the sulfur miners that collect and carry huge loads of pure sulfur up from the crater floor along a steep, rocky path amid clouds of sulfur dioxide gas, as their living hood. Particularly, Ijen volcanic mountain is consider as the home to the largest lake of sulfuric acid in the world.

Rengganis Peak

Rengganis peak is settled on Mount Argopuro, Situbondo, East Java. Mount Argopuro is one of the volcanic mountains that still active in East Java. It is about 2,300 km above the sea level. As a Natural Resource Conversation, mount Argopuro is worth to be visit especially for those who like hiking or mount climbing. As well as historical heritages of Blambangan kingdom and Dutch colonial, there is also a dry lake over there.

Sikasur Savannah

Sikasur savannah is the tourism object belongs to Hyang Mountain or Argopuro Mountain and include of Rengganis Peak. This tourism object is located in Baderan village, Sumbermalang district, about 18 km to south direction from Besuki. If you wish to show the real nature scenery, then visit Sikasur Savannah and feel its different atmosphere.

Pasir Putih

Pasir Putih Beach in Situbondo have a unique typography with a curved shape towards the sea. At the north side of this beach, is stretching the blue ocean of Madura Strait. Pasir Putih Beach is one of popular beaches that mostly visited. The sand on Pasir Putih beach is fairly white and clean. With relief sloping beach, the ocean waves is quite small. Moreover, the sparkling sea water shows the formation of coral reefs and marine life in it. This beach is equipped with various facilities such as prayer rooms, rest areas for visitors, toilets, food stalls and souvenir shops. Some lodgings such as inns and hotels are also widely available in the region. In addition there is also a camping area for visitors who want to set up a tent.

Banongan Beach

Banongan Beach is one of beaches in Situbondo regency that offers the original beach with fresh sea air. There are many coconut trees around this area and it belongs to the government of Situbondo, which is coconut plantation. Those coconut trees live along the beach and make fresher nuance. The green coconut trees, the blue seawater and the fresh air, will spoil the visitors who come to Banongan beach.
