Merak Temple in Klaten Regency, Central Java Province


The majority of tourists would recognize Klaten Regency for its Umbul, natural springs, or bathing places, no? As an alternative, tourists can visit Merak Temple, which is located in Karangnongko Sub-District. This temple is known for its interesting history and unique beauty, actually. It is said this Hindu temple was built during the ancient Mataram era (8-10 AD). It was the reign of Syailendra, actually. According to the locals, the temple was found in 1925. How to Get There
Those coming from the capital of Central Java Province (Semarang City) can take Semarang – Solo Highway and head to Klaten Regency first. The trip may take around 1 hour and 33 minutes, actually. It is because the distance is 97.7 km. Here is another example. Those who come from Jakarta City should take Cikopo – Palimanan Highway and head to Klaten directly. The distance is 532 km, so the trip would take about 7 hours and 50 minutes.

Later, after arriving at Klaten Regency, tourists should take Basin – Karangnongko Street and head to Merak Temple immediately. This time, the trip may take around 38 minutes, as the distance is 18.9 km. It can be either more or less depending on the traffic, though. For a comfier trip, it is also recommended to take the best transportation service only.
