Lumbung Temple in Klaten Regency, Central Java Province

Klaten Regency is known for its Umbul or natural baths, for sure. The good thing is that the region also has many historical sites including temples. Here is an example. Tourists can find Lumbung Temple, which is located in Tlogo Village of Prambanan Sub-District. Unlike other temples (Hindu temples) that reside in Klaten, this one belongs to the Buddha culture. It is neighboring to Bubrah Temple and resides within Prambanan Temple complex, as well. No wonder, everyone can reach the site easily. As for tourist activities, visitors can enjoy photography, sightseeing, relaxation, and learning history there.

The Nuance
According to the locals, Lumbung Temple was built in the 9th century during the reign of ancient Mataram Kingdom. In terms of nuance, the site offers a refreshing and peaceful ambiance. It features a vast grassy landscape in the middle of the complex. The main temple is indeed the biggest. It is surrounded by 16 smaller temples, as well. Not to mention the condition of these constructions are considered sturdy and well. The next feature that tourists may find on the site is the presence of shady trees that surround the area. They create a comfy and shady nuance to the site, therefore.

Exploring Lumbung Temple
During the visit, tourists can enjoy lots of fun things in Lumbung Temple. For example, they can simply explore the site and enjoy family recreation there. For the information, the temple resides in an area of about 545 meters per square. Also, as mentioned before, tourists may find 17 constructions in this complex, including the prime or biggest temple. The smaller temples are called Candi Perwara and they look similar to each other.

Aside from exploration and relaxation, visitors can do other things in Lumbung Temple. For instance, they can simply take photos of those temples or take selfies in front of those objects. The great thing is that all the temples come with amazing carvings. One thing, the buildings don’t look perfect, though. For example, the prime temple has lost its roof. Despite the imperfection, the temple doesn’t lose beauty. It is worth some photo shots, therefore.

The small temples have a height of about 1 meter while the prime building is around 2.5 meters. It is true that the main temple offers a better appearance and various ornaments. Once tourists get in the main temple, they may find 9 niches, but no statues reside there. It is because bad people stole those statues in the past. Have no worries. The carvings are satisfying enough to tourists, so they would be a better background for photography.
