Green Canyon Socokangsi in Klaten Regency, Central Java Province

Perhaps many tourists have recognized Klaten Regency for its historical temples and amazing natural baths, no? Well, they must not overlook the presence of other beautiful natural attractions like Green Canyon Socokangsi, though. As the name suggests, this one is located in Socokangsi Village and belongs to Jatinom Sub-District. The locals usually come to this unique landscape for exploration and photography! In terms of appearance and nuance, it looks similar to that of Ciamis’ Green Canyon, actually. Still, this one offers a distinct beauty for visitors to enjoy. Here is further discussion about it.

The Nuance
Green Canyon Socokangsi features a serene river (Sungai Gethuk) flanked by majestic cliffs. The good news is that tourists don’t need to use a boat in order to explore the river. They can simply walk and explore it comfortably with other adventurers. For the information, the river comes with various depths, so tourists can enjoy different water activities there. The most popular spot is that with a depth of about 50 cm. Many kids are seen in that spot, without a doubt. As for facilities and ornaments, tourists may find stairs, toilets, and small gardens. Well, even though visitors don’t need to pay an entrance fee, there is the charity box. It is better to put some money into it for better improvements in the future.

Exploring Green Canyon Socokangsi
When it comes to tourist activities, visitors usually enjoy “Susur Sungai” or river exploration. They simply get around Green Canyon Socokangsi by foot and this can be done either alone or with other people. During the exploration, these people usually enjoy photography and sightseeing, as well. They take advantage of various majestic landscapes of the site including the river, cliffs, man-made parks, and much more, as their background of photography! One thing, it must be done during good weather, though.

Aside from exploration, visitors are likely to enjoy water sports like swimming and bathing there. As mentioned earlier, the river has several spots with different depth. Thus, kids can choose the safest one for swimming. This spot is located near the entrance, which has a depth of about 50 cm. Despite the safety, all parents should supervise their kids during the activity, though. It is also better to do it when the site is crowded. The purpose is to feel a merrier nuance!

What is next? Diving and cliff jumping become the next common activities to do in Green Canyon Socokangsi. However, these must be done at deeper river spots only. Not to mention only experienced people are allowed to do so. For those who can’t swim, in this case, they can simply visit a special location where tons of big roots reside. These roots stick to the cliffs and look so majestic! No wonder, they often become a great object for photography.
