The Beauty of Mount Putih in Tanjung Selor

It would not be complete if you go to Tanjung Selor without treading this one tourist spot: Gunung Putih or Mount Putih. This mountain is an easy-to-reach spot from North Kalimantan. As the name implies, the location of this tourist spot is in Gunung Putih Village, Tanjung Palas District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province.

 “Gunung” means a mountain while “Putih” means white. As people may expect, they would see a stunning a limestone mountain with its exotic white color and majestic natural carvings!

The nuance is definitely pristine, as Mount Putih resides in a highland. People also need to conduct a short trekking to reach the location. Along the way to the site, tourists may see beautiful and natural panoramas. A small river resides on the side of the mountain. Surrounding by the trees grow abundantly in that area. Even the locals have built modest stone stairs for reaching the top of Mount Putih. Thus, visitors can conduct trekking easily.

According to the locals, the most popular spot for sightseeing is the peak of the mountain. From that spot, tourists are able to see the view of local settlement and other panoramas like lush trees and valleys. Another viewing post is the underground cave, located in the back of the mountain slope. To reach this spot, tourists may spend about 15 minutes by trekking.

To get to Mount Putih, you can take Tanjung Selor City direction from Soekarno – Hatta International Airport, a flight to Tanjung Harapan Airport takes approximately 1 day and 11 hours. After arriving at Tanjung Selor, their next destination is Gunung Putih Village at Tanjung Palas Sub-District. This trip only takes about 36 minutes, as the distance is 28.4 km. It can be faster if tourists take Ahmad Yani Street, though. The last thing to do is to conduct a short trekking to reach the site.
