Broken Beach in Nusa Penida Island, Bali Province

Indonesia consists of thousands of islands and all of them are worth to visit. In terms of popularity, Bali Island perhaps is the best. Bali Province even has several small beautiful islands especially Nusa Penida! This small paradise has tons of amazing beaches including the one called Broken Beach or Pasih Uug Beach. The location is in Bunga Mekar Village and it is known for its sea clarity. No wonder, the beach is suitable for water sports like swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The vast landscape also helps tourists to enjoy exploration and trekking.

The Nuance
Each beach in Nusa Penida Island has a distinct allure. What about Broken Beach? Well, it indeed comes with beautiful sea scenery and clean water. Tourists even have the chance to see dolphins and mantas directly in that area. Still, the most impressive feature is the presence of some tall cliffs with a big hole in the midst of it. The height of the cliffs is about 50 – 200 meters. From afar, the cliffs and its hole look similar to a bridge! It becomes the best object for photography, therefore.

Exploring Broken Beach
The first thing that tourists can do after arriving at Broken Beach is to learn the history. According to the locals, the name derived from the presence of tall cliffs that surround the beach. This is why most visitors are likely to enjoy photography once they arrive at the site. If they take photos from a higher land, the holey cliff appears to look like a giant well in the midst of the sea! Thus, it is recommended to reach a better spot to take photos later.

For the information, Broken Beach is located far from local villages. This serenity helps tourists to enjoy relaxation in the best manner. Some people also choose the beach to relieve their stresses, as well. They want to hear the sound of peaceful waves on the site. Not to mention the warm breezy wind soothes both their mind and body. The calm sea is also suitable for snorkeling, as long as tourists carry their snorkeling gear and other required equipment. For those who are lucky enough, they would be able to meet a group of sea turtles and mantas during snorkeling.

After spending some time at Broken Beach, tourists should consider visiting a nearby settlement (Bunga Mekar Village). The purpose is to meet the locals and enjoy their delicious seafood. It is likely tourists are allowed to stay at one of the villager’s houses for resting before continuing their adventure in that area.
